
Richard Bormann is heading the Handling Processes and Dexterity research team in the Automation and Robotics department at Fraunhofer IPA. He received his M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, in 2010 and his Dipl.-Ing. in Engineering Cybernetics from the University of Stuttgart in 2012. His expertise lies in the fields of computer vision, grasping, and logistics robotics with 60 scientific publications. He has been responsible for numerous national and international research and industrial projects on robot assistants for care, cleaning and logistics. His current research focuses on intelligent robot learning, perception and grasping solutions in the domains of bin picking, bin packing, order picking, machine tending, palletizing and professional service robotics.
